Dr. Albert Pinsonneault is a visionary conductor, esteemed educator, and passionate advocate for the transformative power of choral music. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Madison Choral Project, Wisconsin’s only fully-professional chamber choir.  With his dynamic leadership and unwavering commitment to artistic excellence, he has propelled the Madison Choral Project to new heights. Dr. Pinsonneault's rich musical background, coupled with his boundless creativity, shapes our performances into unforgettable auditory journeys. His ability to blend tradition and innovation results in breathtaking interpretations that resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.

Under Dr. Pinsonneault's guidance, the Madison Choral Project has garnered widespread recognition for its exceptional performances and innovative programming. His expertise in choral repertoire spans a wide range of styles and eras, from classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions. Driven by his passion for collaboration, he frequently collaborates with renowned composers, instrumentalists, and ensembles, pushing the boundaries of choral music and fostering new connections within the musical community.

Dr. Pinsonneault leads the Madison Choral Project with unwavering dedication and artistic vision. His talents, commitment, and infectious enthusiasm create an environment that inspires our singers to reach new heights of excellence.

Dr. Pinsonneault is currently the Director of Choral Activities at the University of St. Thomas, where he conducts the Chamber Singers and Concert Choir and teaches in the graduate program in choral music education. Dr. Pinsonneault is also Founder and Artistic Director of the Madison Choral Project, Wisconsin’s only fully-professional chamber choir.  Previously, he was Associate Director of Choral Organizations at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music where he conducted the University Singers, co-conducted University Chorale, taught the graduate choral literature sequence, and mentored graduate students in choral music.

A graduate of St. Olaf College (BM), the University of Minnesota (MM) and the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati (DMA), Dr. Pinsonneault’s scholarship focuses on choral blend and intonation, the physical/kinesthetic act of conducting, and the music of F. Melius Christiansen. His published work Choral Intonation Exercises is available through Graphite Publishing.
