RACHEL EVE HOLMES, soprano, is a recent graduate of both the New England Conservatory and Colorado State University. Recently described as a “revelation- expressive and subtle, with a stunning instrument” (77 Square), Holmes is an alumna of Young Artist Programs with Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, Opera Fort Collins, VOICExperience NYC, Intermezzo and La Musica Lirica, and has also attended the Baldwin Wallace (previously Cleveland) Art Song Festival two times. Rachel most recently performed the roles of The Wailing Woman (Fresco Opera Theatre), Cosette (Les Miserables, Four Seasons Theatre), Mimi (cover, Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre), Frasquita (Opera for Collins), Beth March (Intermezzo Festival), Susanna (La Musica Lirica) Marzelline (Fort Collins Symphony), as well as partial roles Violetta, Nanetta and Gilda (Loveland Opera Theatre). While studying at NEC and CSU, Rachel performed the roles of L’Enfant, Papagena, Dido, Pamina, Adele, and Susanna. Upcoming engagements include Rosina in the Barber of Seville with Opera for the Young. Rachel was the 2012 winner of the Wisconsin Public Radio Neale Silva Competition, the 2011 Society of Singers Vocal Arts Scholarship, the 2010 Young Singers Foundation Bev Sellers Memorial Scholarship, as well as the winner of the 2010 NATS, Colorado/Wyoming, Graduate Division competition.
