Bass-Baritone MICHAEL PETERSON loves vocal music of all kinds, and has been active in the Madison music scene since his arrival here in 1984. He currently sings in the Madison Chamber Choir, participated for several seasons with the Fayrfax Ensemble (a one voice per part Early Music group), and has appeared as chorister and soloist with the Madison Early Music Festival. Michael wrote the libretto for West from Blue Dog Lake, a 20 minute work for 6-part mixed choir by composer Michael Mayerfield Bell that talks about the prairie and rural life, and sang in its world premiere in 2012. Mike also enjoys playing guitar as an instrument to accompany voice and participate in small chamber ensembles. He attributes much of his love for music to his parochial school upbringing with its emphasis on choral music, and to many early opportunities for making music with family and friends. In addition to choral music, Mike’s passions are cooking, gardening and creating new recipes. Mike is thrilled to be back in his second concert with MCP.
